Dear Friends of the People, Parks & Community Foundation,
We are thrilled to share the results of our first-ever open grant round! Thanks to your support and partnership, the Foundation is investing $112,000 in six inspiring projects across Pennsylvania that will make a lasting difference in their communities.
From building ADA-accessible walking trails and fitness areas… to creating a new pocket park… to expanding opportunities for youth, seniors, and residents with disabilities — these projects reflect the heart of what we are about: helping people and communities thrive through parks, recreation, and education.
Here are the organizations and projects being funded in 2025:
• Downtown Johnstown Redevelopment Authority — $30,000 pocket park project
• East Goshen Township — $1,000 PingPongParkinson expansion
• Influencing Action Movement Foundation — $30,000 Farmers Market Youth Garden
• Bedford Borough — $30,000 ADA walking trail
• City of Clairton — $6,028 accessible pool chairs
• Leetsdale Borough — $15,000 outdoor health & fitness area
You can view more about this year’s awards here: peopleparks.org/2025-grant-awards.
Altogether, we received 121 applications totaling nearly $3.2 million in requests. The need is great, and while we could only fund a small fraction this year, your Foundation is committed to building our investment fund so that we can increase our giving capacity in 2026 and beyond.
“These first awards are proof of the power of partnership,” said Tim Herd, president of the Foundation. “Every one of these projects will touch lives, create connections, and strengthen communities. We’re excited for what’s ahead — and deeply grateful to everyone who believes in this mission with us.”
Together, we’re growing a stronger, healthier, and more connected Pennsylvania. Thank you for being part of the journey!
With gratitude,
